29 CFR 1910.145(c)(2)(i): Caution signs shall be used only to warn against potential hazards or to caution against unsafe practices: Improper use of ladders; unguarded floor openings; stairways with missing handrails; absence of gates, railings, and fall arrest systems; obstructed doorways, stairways and walkways; doorways lac king proper signage. 29 CFR 1910.36(d)(1): Employees must be able to open an exit route door from the inside at all times without keys, tools, or special knowledge. A device such as a panic bar that locks only from the outside is permitted on exit discharge doors: Improper use of ladders; unguarded floor openings; stairways with missing handrails; absence of gates, railings, and fall arrest systems; obstructed doorways, stairways and walkways; doorways lac king proper signage. 29 CFR 1910.36(g)(2): An exit access must be at least 28 inches (71.1 cm) wide at all points. Where there is only one exit access leading to an exit or exit discharge, the width of the exit and exit discharge must be at least equal to the width of the exit access: Improper use of ladders; unguarded floor openings; stairways with missing handrails; absence of gates, railings, and fall arrest systems; obstructed doorways, stairways and walkways; doorways lac king proper signage. 29 CFR 1910.37(a)(2): Exit routes must be arranged so that employees will not have to travel toward a high hazard area, unless the path of travel is effectively shielded from the high hazard area by suitable partitions or other physical barriers: Improper use of ladders; unguarded floor openings; stairways with missing handrails; absence of gates, railings, and fall arrest systems; obstructed doorways, stairways and walkways; doorways lac king proper signage. 29 CFR 1910.37(a)(3): Exit routes must be free and unobstructed. No materials or equipment may be placed, either permanently or temporarily, within the exit route. The exit access must not go through a room that can be locked, such as a bathroom, to reach an exit or exit discharge, nor may it lead into a dead-end corridor. Self-luminous or electroluminescent signs that have a minimum luminance surface value of at least .06 foot lamberts (0.21 cd/m2) are permitted: Improper use of ladders; unguarded floor openings; stairways with missing handrails; absence of gates, railings, and fall arrest systems; obstructed doorways, stairways and walkways; doorways lac king proper signage. 29 CFR 1910.22(b)(1): Where mechanical handling equipment is used, sufficient safe clearances shall be allowed for aisles, at loading docks, through doorways and wherever turns or passage must be made. Aisles and passageways shall be kept clear and in good repairs, with no obstruction across or in aisles that could create a hazard: Improper use of ladders; unguarded floor openings; stairways with missing handrails; absence of gates, railings, and fall arrest systems; obstructed doorways, stairways and walkways; doorways lac king proper signage. 29 CFR 1910.23(a)(2): Every ladder way floor opening or platform shall be guarded by a standard railing with standard toe board on all exposed sides (except at entrance to opening), with the passage through the railing either provided with a swinging gate or so offset that a person cannot walk directly into the opening: Improper use of ladders; unguarded floor openings; stairways with missing handrails; absence of gates, railings, and fall arrest systems; obstructed doorways, stairways and walkways; doorways lac king proper signage. 29 CFR 1910.23(a)(8): Every floor hole into which persons can accidentally walk shall be guarded by either: Improper use of ladders; unguarded floor openings; stairways with missing handrails; absence of gates, railings, and fall arrest systems; obstructed doorways, stairways and walkways; doorways lac king proper signage. 29 CFR 1910.24(h): "Railings and handrails." Standard railings shall be provided on the open sides of all exposed stairways and stair platforms. Handrails shall be provided on at least one side of closed stairways preferably on the right side descending. Stair railings and handrails shall be installed in accordance with the provisions of 1910.23: Improper use of ladders; unguarded floor openings; stairways with missing handrails; absence of gates, railings, and fall arrest systems; obstructed doorways, stairways and walkways; doorways lac king proper signage. 29 CFR 1910.27(c)(4): "Clearance in back of ladder." The distance from the centerline of rungs, cleats, or steps to the nearest permanent object in back of the ladder shall be not less than seven inches, except that when unavoidable obstructions are encountered, minimum clearances as shown in figure D-3 shall be provided: Improper use of ladders; unguarded floor openings; stairways with missing handrails; absence of gates, railings, and fall arrest systems; obstructed doorways, stairways and walkways; doorways lac king proper signage. 29 CFR 1910.27(f): "Maintenance." All ladders shall be maintained in a safe condition.
