29 CFR 1910.215(a)(4): Work rest(s) on grinding machinery are not adjusted closely to the wheel with a maximum opening of one eighth inch: A recent example of the employer's violative conduct occurred on this occasion: a) 9000 River Rd, Delair, NJ, 08110- Maintenance: The work rest on a Baldor bench grinder model W10-91 had an opening that extended more than one inch from the grinding wheel on or about 1/23/2017. To abate this violation, the employer must ensure that the work rests on all grinding wheels remain within one eighth inches from the grinding wheel during employee use. NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, AND PURSUANT TO 29 CFR 1903.19, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM, INCLUDING THE STEPS THAT IT IS TAKING TO ENSURE THAT THE WORK RESTS ON THE GRINDING WHEELS ARE PROPERLY ADJUSTED DURING EMPLOYEE USE. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19. ALUMINUM SHAPES LLC WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD, ITS EQUIVALENT, OR ESSENTIALLY SIMILAR STANDARD 29 CFR 1910.215(a)(4), WHICH WAS CONTAINED IN OSHA INSPECTION NUMBER 1059368, CITATION NUMBER 1, ITEM NUMBER 21a AND WAS AFFIRMED AS A FINAL ORDER ON 7/5/2016, WITH RESPECT TO A WORKPLACE LOCATED AT 9000 RIVER ROAD, DELAIR, NEW JERSEY, 08110.
