29 CFR 1910.334(a)(2)(i): Portable cord and plug connected equipment and flexible cord sets (extension cords) were not visually inspected before use on any shift for external defects (such as loose parts, deformed and missing pins, or damage to outer jacket or insulation) and for evidence of possible internal damage (such as pinched or crushed outer jacket): a. Furnace Department: On or about 04/27/2021, the employer does not inspect cords for defects prior to shift start, in that the outer jacket of the cord on a115-volt Patterson 26" diameter fan was damaged. b. Furnace Department: On or about 04/13/2021, the employer does not inspect cords for defects prior to shift start, in that the outer jacket of an extension cord was damaged and connected to a 115-volt Patterson 26" diameter fan.
