29 CFR 1910.146(g)(1): The employer does not provide training so that all employees whose work is regulated by 29 CFR 1910.146 (permit required confined spaces) acquired the understanding, knowledge, and skills necessary for the safe performance of the duties assigned under 29 CFR 1910.146: A recent example of the employer's violative conduct occurred on this occasion: a) 9000 River Rd, Delair, NJ, 08110- Foundry: Adequate permit required confined space training was not provided to employees who entered permit required confined spaces, including, but not limited to, the furnaces and the casting pits. Training did not include information such as, but not limited to, the identification of all of the hazards within the spaces, how to eliminate or control the hazards, procedures for rescue, proper completion of entry permits and proper use of air monitoring equipment, occurred on or about 2/10/2017. To abate this violation, the employer must establish a system to ensure that employees are provided training prior to entering any permit required confined space including, but not limited to, the furnace and casting pits. NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION,AND PURSUANT TO 29 CFR 1903.19, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM, INCLUDING THE STEPS IT IS TAKING TO ENSURE THAT ITS EMPLOYEES ARE TRAINED PRIOR TO ENTERING PERMIT REQUIRED CONFINED SPACES WITHIN THE FOUNDRY. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19. ALUMINUM SHAPES LLC WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD, ITS EQUIVALENT, OR ESSENTIALLY SIMILAR STANDARD 29 CFR 1910.146(g)(1), WHICH WAS CONTAINED IN OSHA INSPECTION NUMBER 1059368, CITATION NUMBER 1, ITEM NUMBER 8 AND WAS AFFIRMED AS A FINAL ORDER ON 7/5/2016, WITH RESPECT TO A WORKPLACE LOCATED AT 9000 RIVER ROAD, DELAIR, NEW JERSEY, 08110.
