29 CFR 1910.305(g)(1)(iv)(A): Flexible cords and/or cables were used as a substitute for the fixed wiring of a structure. The employer does not ensure flexible cords and/or cables are used as a substitute for the fixed wiring of a structure. This violation was most recently observed on or about October 18, 2017 at a worksite at 19 Bailey Street, Plains Township, PA (In-Process Room) when employees were working removing product from a Bilt-Rite belt driven conveyor system that had two (2) motors energized by an extension cord in lieu of fixed wiring, as well as on two prior occasions as described below. To abate this violation, the employer must ensure flexible cords and/or cables are not used as a substitute for the fixed wiring of a structure. Midvale Paper Box Company was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.305(g)(1)(iv)(A), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1066679, citation number 3, item number 4 and was affirmed as a final order on June 17, 2017, with respect to a workplace located at 19 Bailey Street, Plains Township, PA. Midvale Paper Box Company was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.305(g)(1)(iv)(A), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 994212, citation number 1, item number 8 and was affirmed as a final order on June 17, 2017, with respect to a workplace located at 19 Bailey Street, Plains Township, PA.
