29 CFR 1926.502(h)(1)(v): The safety monitor had other responsibilities which could take the monitor's attention from the monitoring function: The employer does not protect each employee from fall hazards while performing roofing work by ensuring that the safety monitor does not have other responsibilities which could take the monitor's attention from the monitoring function. a) This most recently occurred on February 13, 2019, at 28205 W. Commercial Ave., Lake Barrington, Illinois 60010. An employee designated to perform safety monitor duties is also engaged in roofing work which could take the monitor's attention from the monitoring function. Five Star Roofing Systems, Inc., was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1926.502(h)(1)(v), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1204382, citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on May 17, 2017, with respect to a workplace located at 1 Dearborn Square, Kankakee, Illinois 60901. To abate this hazard in the future, the employer must ensure that the safety monitor does not have other responsibilities which could take the monitor's attention from the monitoring function. Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19, the employer must submit documents describing the steps it is taking to ensure compliance, including an explanation of how these steps protect it's employees from fall hazards.
