29 CFR 1926.102(a)(1): The employer shall ensure that each affected employee uses appropriate eye or face protection when exposed to eye or face hazards from flying particles, molten metal, liquid chemicals, acids or caustic liquids, chemical gases or vapors, or potentially injurious light radiation. a. On or before December 11, 2019, where employees used pneumatic nail guns to secure floor sheathing, the employer failed to ensure employees' eyes were protected from flying objects by the use of appropriate eye protection, thereby exposing the employees to struck-by hazards. b. On or before December 11, 2019, where employees used a circular saw to cut floor sheathing, the employer failed to ensure employees' eyes were protected from flying objects by the use of appropriate eye protection, thereby exposing the employees to struck-by hazards. Cabrera Construction was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1385371, citation number 1, item number 1and was affirmed as a final order on August 28, 2019, with respect to a workplace located at 5380 Booker Drive, Westerville, OH 43081.
