29 CFR 1910.212(a)(2): General requirements for machine guards. Guards shall be affixed to the machine where possible and secured elsewhere if for any reason attachment to the machine is not possible. The guard shall be such that it does not offer an accident hazard in itself. a. On or about January 3, 2017, located on the northwestern side of the Core Baker, there was a gate that was not secured to prevent employees from entering, thereby exposing the employees the moving parts of the Core Baker. b. On or about January 3, 2017, located on the northeastern side of the Core Baker, there was a sliding gate that was not secured to prevent employees from entering, thereby exposing the employees to the moving parts of the Core Baker.
