Text For Citation: 03 Item/Group: 003 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use: (a) Brooklyn South Carrier Annex - On or about October 27, 2016, employees were exposed to hazardous chemicals such as but not limited to Pk12 Toilet Bowl Cleaner, Bleach Ultra, Triad III Disinfectant Cleaner, and Zep Alkaline Drain Opener for which the employer did not provide them with an eyewash station. The U.S Postal Service was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.151(c), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1114321, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on 02/24/2016, with respect to a workplace located at 2655 Tidewater Drive, Norfolk, VA 23509. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet), in addition, documentation demonstrating the abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
