North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by bullets and being shot from an accidental discharge of a firearm: a)throughout the facility, the employer did not utilize procedures or other methods to prevent loaded handguns from leaving the indoor firing range. NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to abate this hazard is to: 1-Develop and enforce range safety procedures which requires the insertion of a chamber safety flag or device and/or other procedures to verify that the handgun chamber is clear/unloaded prior to leaving the indoor firing range.
