Text For Citation: 03 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.1060(a): The employer did not provide a training program for each employee using ladders and stairways, as necessary, which would enable each employee to recognize hazards related to ladders and stairways and train each employee in the procedures to be followed to minimize these hazards. a. Employees using ladders are not provided with ladder training. The employer fails to assure effective training for ladder usage as required by the standard, as demonstrated on April 26, 2022, when employees are working on a commercial roof with a 4:12 pitch at 1285 St Johns Parkway, Saint Johns, Florida, and are exposed to 12 feet 8 inch fall hazard to the ground in that the employees had not been trained in the recognition of the hazards associated with ladders. Lewis Walker Roofing, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.503(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1258051, citation number 2, item number 1(b), and was affirmed as a final order on October 12, 2017, with respect to a workplace located at 3901 SW 20th Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32607.
