29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1): The employer did not assess the workplace to determine if hazards were present, or were likely to be present, which necessitated the use of personal protective equipment: On or about August 15, 2018 through December 18, 2018, the employer's personal protective equipment (PPE) hazard assessment was not adequate in that: a) Packaging Dept. Mezzanine. Employees were not required to wear head protection when stooping to walk beneath moving overhead conveyors and standing/working next to reciprocating conveyor ends that were near head height. Employees' heads were exposed to lacerations and contusions. b) Employees working in Maintenance were required to wear hard hats. This was not reflected in the employer's written PPE hazard assessment document. c) Employees working in the JFC Corn Cook and North Corn Cook Areas were required to wear eye/face protection and rubber boots. This was not reflected in the employer's written PPE hazard assessment document.
