29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) HBD Thermoid, Inc. - Bellefontaine, Ohio: The employer does not ensure the overhead CAT-puller on Line 3 is guarded in such a manner as to prevent employees' hands from reaching the ingoing nip point created by the machine's vertically aligned horizontal friction belts and the in-going rubber hose. Employees performing operational tasks in proximity of the ingoing nip points are exposed to caught in hazards. This was most recently identified on or about June 22, 2023. b) HBD Thermoid, Inc. - Bellefontaine, Ohio: The employer does not ensure the overhead CAT-puller on Line 4 is guarded in such a manner as to prevent employees' hands from reaching the ingoing nip point created by the machine's vertically aligned horizontal friction belts and the in-going rubber hose. Employees performing operational tasks in proximity of the ingoing nip points are exposed to caught in hazards.
