29 CFR 1910.261(l)(9)(i): The nipping points of all drum winders and rewinders located on the operator's side shall be guarded by either automatic or manually operated barrier guards of sufficient height to protect fully anyone working around them. The barrier guard shall be interlocked with the drive mechanism to prevent operating above jog speed without the guard in place. A zero speed switch should be installed to prevent the guard from being raised while the roll is turning: a) Converting - On or about August 28, 2018 the unwinder on line 5 was not guarded exposing employees to amputation hazards. von Drehle Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, which was contained in OSHA Inspection #1150043, Citation 1, Item 2a, issued on November 18, 2016, with respect to a workplace located at 30 Majorca Rd. Natchez, MS which became a final order on December 8, 2016.
