29 CFR 1926.102(a)(1): Employees were not provided with eye and face protection equipment when machines or operations present potential eye or face injury from physical, chemical, or radiation agents: The employer does not protect each employee from eye injury while engaged in carpentry work by requiring the employee to wear eye and face protection while operating pneumatic framing nail guns. The following instances most recently occurred: a) On January 29, 2024, at 3111-3119 North 80th Street, River Grove, IL 60171. Employees engaged in carpentry activities are exposed to eye injury while operating pneumatic nail guns without eye protection. b) On February 9, 2024, at 3111-3119 North 80th Street, River Grove, IL 60171. Employees engaged in carpentry activities are exposed to eye injury while operating pneumatic nail guns without eye protection. KW Framing, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.102(a)(1) which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1629045, citation number 1, item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on May 3, 2023, with respect to a workplace located at 11 West Prospect Ave, Street, Mount Prospect, IL 60056. To abate this hazard in the future, the employer must ensure that each employee is provided with eye and face protection during carpentry activities when machines, tools or operations present potential eye or face injury.
