Text For Citation: 03 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.503(a)(1): The employer did not provide a training program for each employee potentially exposed to fall hazards to enable each employee to recognize the hazards of falling and the procedures to be followed in order to minimize these hazards: a. Employees performing roofing work are not provided with Fall Protection training. The employer fails to assure effective training for falls as required by the standard, as demonstrated on April 26, 2022, when employees are working on a commercial roof with a 4:12 pitch at 1285 St Johns Parkway, Saint Johns, Florida, and are exposed up to 21 feet fall hazards to the ground in that the employees had not been trained in the recognition of the hazards of falling and the procedures to be followed. Lewis Walker Roofing, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.503(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1258051, citation number 2, item number 1(a), and was affirmed as a final order on October 12, 2017, with respect to a workplace located at 3901 SW 20th Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32607.
