29 CFR 1926.651(c)(2): Means of egress from trench excavations. A stairway, ladder, ramp or other safe means of egress shall be located in trench excavations that are 4 feet (1.22 m) or more in depth so as to require no more than 25 feet (7.62 m) of lateral travel for employees: a) Jobsite: The employer did not ensure that a safe means of egress was provided within 25 feet of lateral travel in the working area, exposing employees to various hazards associated with not being able to safely egress from an excavation in case of an emergency. Condition was noted on or about 24 SEP 2018. Real Construction, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.651(k)(2) which was contained in OSHA inspection number 957305, citation number 1, item number 2/a, and was affirmed as a final order on 11 APR 14, with respect to a workplace located at 1001 South 17th Street, Philadelphia.
