29 CFR 1910.22(a)(3): Walking-working surfaces are not maintained free of hazards such as sharp or protruding objects, loose boards, corrosion, leaks, spills, snow, and ice: Recent examples of the employer's violative conduct occurred on these occasions: a) 9000 River Rd, Delair, NJ, 08110- Extrusion Lines: Walking working surfaces were not maintained free of hazards including, but not limited to, protruding objects such as uneven steel plates on floors in the die loading area, observed on or about 2/24/2017. b) 9000 River Rd, Delair, NJ, 08110- Extrusion Lines: Walking working surfaces were not maintained free of hazards including, but not limited to, protruding objects such as uneven steel plates with holes used as grab handles to access equipment associated with the extrusion press line, observed on or about 2/24/2017. c) 9000 River Rd, Delair, NJ, 08110- Building 10, Danieli Rack Lift Area: Employees worked in the vicinity of the rack lift location where there were unguarded floor holes in the packing area, observed on or about 1/24/2017. To abate this violation, the employer must maintain the walking-working surfaces within the facility free of hazards by a) making the steel plates in the die loading area of the press lines level with the walking surface, b) making the steel plates by the extrusion press lines level with the walking surface and c) covering the floor holes in the packing area of the Daniele Rack Lift area. NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, AND PURSUANT TO 29 CFR 1903.19, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM, INCLUDING A DESCRIPTION AND PHOTOS OF THE STEPS IT IS TAKING TO PROTECT EMPLOYEES FROM HAZARDS ON THE WALKING WORKING SURFACES. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19. ALUMINUM SHAPES LLC WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD, ITS EQUIVALENT, OR ESSENTIALLY SIMILAR STANDARD 29 CFR 1910.23(a)(8), WHICH WAS CONTAINED IN OSHA INSPECTION NUMBER 1059368, CITATION NUMBER 1, ITEM NUMBER 2 AND WAS AFFIRMED AS A FINAL ORDER ON 7/5/2016, WITH RESPECT TO A WORKPLACE LOCATED AT 9000 RIVER ROAD, DELAIR, NEW JERSEY, 08110.
