Text For Citation: 03 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.124(h)(4): The employer must provide, for employees who work with chromic acid, periodic examinations of their exposed body parts, especially their nostrils. a) Moore Chrome Products Company, dba Moore Metal Finishing, Sylvania, Ohio; On or about April 12, 2016 the employer failed to ensure employees exposed to chromic acid were provided with medical exams of the exposed body parts and nostrils. Employees handling yellow dichromate, TASDIP IR 12 L, are exposed to hazards associated with chromic acid such as, but not limited to, nasal septum perforation, irritation of the mucous membranes, larynx, pharynx, and conjunctiva. Moore Chrome Products, CO. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1910.124(h)(4), which was contained in OSHA Inspection Number 422284, citation number 2, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on September 25, 2016, with respect to a workplace located at 3525 Silica Road Sylvania, Ohio 43560.
