Text For Citation: 03 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to injury from slips, trips and fall hazards. a) Palletizer area: employees enter the palletizer to clean material spills and in doing so walk on idler rollers and drive chains, thus being exposed to injury from falling from the palletizer, on or about March 1, 1994 Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to construct a walkway alongside the rollers and chains, thereby giving the employees a safe means to traverse the area.
