29 CFR 1910.184(e)(2)(i): Hooks, rings, oblong links, pear shaped links, welded or mechanical coupling links or other attachments did not have a rated capacity at least equal to that of the alloy steel chain with which they were used or the sling was used in excess of the rated capacity of the weakest component: Maintenance Shop: On, or about, September 2, 2021, 2 two legged slings were joined on a shackle to make a four legged sling. The working load limit (WLL) stamped on the shackle indicated that it was rated for 1,500 pounds. According to tabulated data for the size of the chain slings, the working load limit of the chain was at least 3,500 pounds.
