29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): Employees were not provided effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment and whenever a new hazard that the employees had not been previously trained about was introduced into their work area: a) Paint Department: On or about June 14, 2023 and continuing thereafter, employees used and cleaned Sames airmix paint spray guns. The paint and other coatings sprayed were flammable liquids and contained hazardous chemicals including but not limited to, acetone, butyl acetate, isobutyl acetate, methanol, toluene and xylene. The employer did not provide the required Hazard Communication training and information to employees. b) Metal Department: On or about July 1, 2023 and continuing thereafter, employees welded metal using a MIG welder and Argon and Carbon Dioxide. The employer did not provide the required Hazard Communication training and information to employees. c) Warehouse: On or about July 1, 2023 and continuing thereafter, employees used 3M Super 77 Spray adhesive, an extremely flammable aerosol, to apply labels to pallets of materials. The employer did not provide the required Hazard Communication training and information to employees. d) Carpentry Department: On or about July 5, 2023 and continuing thereafter, employees used adhesives, Formica F-140, Citrus cleaner and Glue-off and processed wood. The adhesive contained hazardous chemicals including but not limited to, heptane, acetone and toluene. Panels made primarily of wood was cut and sanded which created combustible dust. The employer did not provide the required Hazard Communication training and information to employees.
