29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): Employees are not provided effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment and whenever a new hazard that the employees have not been previously trained about is introduced into their work area: a) The employer does not ensure that employees who are exposed to substances such as, but not limited to, wood generated into dust, propane, and petroleum distillates are provided with effective information and training in hazard communication. This violation reportedly occurred on October 5, 2016. To abate this hazard the employer shall ensure employees are provided with information and training in hazard communication covering the following topics: a) Operations in their work area where hazardous chemicals are present; b) The location and availability of the written hazard communication program, including the required list(s) of hazardous chemicals, and safety data sheets required by this section; c) The physical hazards, health hazards, and combustible dust, in the work area; d) The details of the hazard communication program developed by the employer, including an explanation of the labels received on shipping containers and the workplace labeling system used by their employer, and; e) Details of the safety data sheet, including the order of information and how employees can obtain and use the appropriate hazard information. A & D Wood Products, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard 1910.1200(h)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 993582, citation number 1, item number 15c and was affirmed as a final order on May 9, 2016 with respect to a workplace located at 112 Ward Street Elida, Ohio 45807.
