29 CFR 1910.217(c)(1)(i): It shall be the responsibility of the employer to provide and insure the usage of "point of operation guards" or properly applied and adjusted point of operation devices on every operation performed on a mechanical power press. See Table O-10: On or about 14 February 2018, the employer did not provide and insure the use of "point of operation guards" or properly applied and adjusted point of operation devices on every operation performed on all mechanical power press(es), including Press #43. The presses did not have guarding to protect the employee(s) against inadvertently having their hands in the pinch point created during operating cycles. The machine was equipped with only one pullback for the use by the operator. This allowed the operator's free hand to be in the die space, exposed amputation. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
