29 CFR 1910.146(g)(1): The employer did not provide training so that all employees whose work was regulated by 29 CFR 1910.146 (permit required confined spaces) acquired the understanding, knowledge, and skills necessary for the safe performance of the duties assigned under 29 CFR 1910.146: a) Boiler house, Woodchip/bark-chip storage area; On or about December 7, 2020 and at times prior to, the employer allowed employees to work in the confined spaces of the woodchip/bark chip storage area without first training employees on the hazards associated with permit required confined spaces or the procedures and practices to enter permit required confined spaces, exposing employees to caught-by (chain conveyor), entrapment, and engulfment hazards. Browder and Sons Veneer Company, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1910.146(g)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1506065 citation number 1 item number 1e and was affirmed as a final order on 4/21/2022.
