29 CFR 1910.134(k)(1)(i): The employer did not ensure that each employee could demonstrate knowledge of why the respirator was necessary and how improper fit, usage, or maintenance could compromise the protective effect of the respirator: (Construction Reference 1926.103) The employer did not train employees wearing filtering face piece respirators, half-face elastomeric respirators and air supplied respirators, on the hazardous chemicals present and why the respirator was necessary, or how improper maintenance and usage could result in carbon monoxide being present in supplied air respirators with air supply from oil lubricated compressors.
