29 CFR 1910.219(f)(3): Sprocket wheels and chains which were seven feet or less above floors or platforms were not enclosed: On or about 05/27/2015, the Harrison Steel Plant had the following machinery with sprocket and chain assemblies that were not guarded. Equipment includes machinery such as, but not limited to the following: a. The rolling mill south discharge run out table had multiple sprocket and chain assemblies that were not guarded. b. The IBBI area #1 bloom grinder had four separate sprocket and chain assemblies that were not guarded. c. The C-Building #2 Magnaglo unit had an inlet table with a sprocket and chain assembly that was not guarded. d. The IBBI area had a horizontal Hem Saw discharge roller table with an unguarded sprocket and chain assembly. Employee hands and fingers can be caught in the reversible rotating chain links and sprocket while removing the work product. The TimkenSteel Corporation (formerly known as: The Timken Company) was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR. 1910.23(c)(3), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 462358, citation number 02, item number 04 and was affirmed as a final order on July 01,2013 with respect to a workplace located at 2401 Gambrinus Ave., SW, Canton, OH 44706.
