29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(5)(i): Non-self-supporting ladders were not used at an angle such than the horizontal distance from the top support to the foot of the ladder way approximately one-quarter of the working length of the ladder (the distance along the ladder between the foot and the top support): location: north side of house on or about: 10/20/14 a) An employee was using a metal extension ladder to access and work on the roof. The horizontal distance from the top support to the foot of the ladder (14.8 ft.) was much greater than one quarter of the working length of the ladder (4.7 ft.). The employer, Franco Roofing, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard, 29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(5)(i), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 279187, citation number 1, item number 5a and was affirmed as a final order on 8/17/2012, with respect to a workplace located at 357 Round Hill Rd., Greenwich, Ct 06831.
