29 CFR 1910.219(f)(3): Sprockets and chains. All sprocket wheels and chains shall be enclosed unless they are more than seven (7) feet above the floor or platform. Where the drive extends over other machine or working areas, protection against falling shall be provided. This subparagraph does not apply to manually operated sprockets. a. 4400 S. Packers - Department 7 - On or about September 23, 2014, chain and sprockets on the mechanical power press number 17 were not guarded, thereby exposing employees to the hazards associated with moving parts. b. 4400 S. Packers - Department 7 - On or about September 23, 2014, chain and sprockets on the back of roll former # 2 were not guarded, thereby exposing employees to the hazards associated with moving parts. c. 4400 S. Packers - Department 7 - On or about September 23, 2014, chain and sprocket on the Minster mechanical power press # 6 were not guarded, thereby exposing employees to the hazards associated with moving parts. Edsal Manufacturing Company, Inc., was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1910.219(f)(3), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 313940553, citation number 1, item number 4 and was affirmed as a final order on April 20, 2011, with respect to a workplace located at 4400 S. Packer Avenue, Chicago, IL 60609.
