Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 004 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.215(a)(4): Work rest(s) on grinding machinery were not adjusted closely to the wheel with a maximum opening of one eighth inch: Employees were exposed to caught-in and struck-by hazards. Employees engaged in cleaning/deburring activities using the Black and Decker #9407 Serial #9705 - 6" pedestal grinder in the Assembly Area (Front Shop) by the Test Stand #2 area were exposed to caught-in and struck-by hazards in that the work rest opening was not maintained at a maximum of one-eight inch. The work rest was found to be approximately three-eights inch away from the grinding wheel. Smith & Smith Aircraft International, Ltd. has been previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.215(a)(4) which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1210591, Citation number 1, Item number 2a, issued on 04/05/2017, with respect to a workplace located at 3738 W. 29th Street South Wichita, KS 67217, with a final order date of 04/27/2017. 29 CFR 1903.19(d)(1) requires certification and documentation that the abatement of the above violation is complete.
