29 CFR 1910.252(b)(2)(iii): Workers and other persons adjacent to the welding area were not required to wear appropriate goggles, to protect them from the rays when noncombustible or flameproof screens or shields were not used: 101 North Main Street, Newark, Illinois, west building shop, welding areas - on or about May 4, 2017, employees working and walking in areas adjacent to welding activities were exposed to welding rays likely to cause damage to their eye(s) and skin because they were not wearing appropriate goggles and/or flameproof screens were not used to enclose the perimeter of welding activity. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d). Louis Dierzen dba Dierzen Sales, Ltd. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.252(b)(2)(iii), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1125876, citation number 01, item number 004 and was affirmed as a final order on August 29, 2016, with respect to a workplace located at 101 N. Main St., Newark, IL 60541.
