Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 004 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.1027(m)(4)(ii):The employer shall train each employee who is potentially exposed to cadmium in accordance with the requirements of this section. Training shall be provided prior to or at the time of initial assignment to a job involving potential exposure to cadmium and at least annually thereafter. The employer does not protect each employee during cadmium plating work by providing training in accordance with the requirements of this section. On or about August 13, 2015, in the facility, an employee required to perform cadmium plating was exposed to airborne cadmium dust at a level of 5.4 micrograms per cubic meter of air as an 8-hour time-weighted average (8-hr TWA), approximately 2.2 times the action level of 2.5 micrograms per cubic meter of air (8-hr TWA). The employer did not train each employee who was potentially exposed to cadmium in accordance with the requirements of this section at least annually. To abate this hazard in the future the employer must train each employee who is potentially exposed to cadmium in accordance with the requirements of this section. Training must be provided prior to or at the time of initial assignment to a job involving potential exposure to cadmium and at least annually thereafter. Electronic Plating Company was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or it's equivalent standard (1910.1027(m)(4)(i)) which was contained in OSHA inspection number 315157800, citation number 1, item number 7b, and was affirmed as a final order on December 6, 2011, with respect to a workplace located at 1821 S. 54th Ave., Cicero, IL. 60804.
