29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a.) On or about April 19, 2017, the employer did not ensure employees were protected while operating the Blanchard Grinder HD #3 (Serial #14446). Employees were required to use the grinder to smooth out steel parts, and are exposed to hazards from the moving parts of the table and/or grinding stones. b.) On or about April 19, 2017, the employer did not ensure employees were protected while operating the Blanchard Grinder Blue #60. Employees were required to use the grinder to smooth out steel parts, and are exposed to hazards from the moving parts of the table and/or grinding stones. c.) On or about April 19, 2017, the employer did not ensure employees were protected while operating the Blanchard Grinder Model K (Serial #12447). Employees were required to use the grinder to smooth out steel parts, and are exposed to hazards from the moving parts of the table and/or grinding stones. Precision Steel Services was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1910.212(a)(1) which was contained in OSHA inspection number 330584, citation number 1, item number 6 and was affirmed as a final order on September 23, 2013 with respect to a workplace located at 31 E. Sylvania Ave. Toledo, OH.
