Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 003 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.178(q)(7): Industrial trucks shall be examined before being placed in service, and shall not be placed in service if the examination shows any condition adversely affecting the safety of the vehicle. Such examination shall be made at least daily. Where industrial trucks are used on a round-the-clock basis, they shall be examined after each shift. Defects when found shall be immediately reported and corrected. On or about 7 November 2014 the employer failed to ensure that material handling equipment was properly inspected to ensure that they were safe for use, whereby an employee using stand up mule 97 had damaged cable wires exposing employees to electrical shock hazards. The US Postal Service was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.178(q)(7), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 957149, citation number 01, item number 003 and was affirmed as a final order on March 31, 2014, with respect to a workplace located at 15421 Gale Ave., City of Industry, CA 91715. The US Postal Service was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.178(q)(7), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 928063, citation number 02, item number_001 and was affirmed as a final order on November 13, 2013, with respect to a workplace located at 5555 Bandini Blvd, Bell CA 90201.
