29 CFR 1910.179(j)(2)(iii): Monthly inspections of hooks, with signed reports, were not performed: The employer did not protect each employee by performing monthly inspections of hooks, with signed reports on company cranes. a) This most recently occurred on February 28, 2013, the employer does not conduct and document monthly hook inspections. Employees are thereby exposed to the hazards of falling loads. To abate this hazard in the future, the employer must ensure monthly inspections of hooks are performed with a signed report. This employer has been cited for this practice that included: Hoist Liftruck Mfg, Inc., was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.179(j)(2)(iii) which was contained in OSHA inspection number 400064, citation 1, item 3c, issued on September 28, 2012, and became final order on about October 23, 2012, with respect to a workplace located at 6499 W. 65th Street, Bedford Park, IL 60638. Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19, the employer must submit documents describing the steps it is taking to ensure compliance, including an explanation of how monthly hook inspections will be performed and documented on a signed report.
