Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 002B Hazard:

29 CFR 1926.652(c)(2)(i): Design of support systems, shield systems, or other protective systems that are drawn from manufacturer's tabulated data were not in accordance with all specifications, recommendations, and limitations issued or made by the manufacturer: (a) 17589 E Eastman Dr, Aurora CO 80013: On or about December 27, 2022, employees were not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system which followed the manufacturer's tabulated data. Two employees were working in an unprotected trench approximately 43 feet long and 26 inches wide, with a depth of approximately 7.5-8 feet. Only one area of the trench near the house contained a partial protective system consisting of one GME Hydraulic Vertical Shore which did not meet the manufacturer's design criteria. The manufacture requires that a minimum of two shores are used and spaced in accordance with the tabulated data with the safe work area being between the shores. Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation are required for this item (see enclosed Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet).
