29 CFR 1910.24(h): "Railings and handrails." Standard railings shall be provided on the open sides of all exposed stairways and stair platforms. Handrails shall be provided on at least one side of closed stairways preferably on the right side descending. Stair railings and handrails shall be installed in accordance with the provisions of 1910.23. a. The top guardrail of the stairway leading down to the elevator basement did not have an intermediate rail on each side, exposing employees to a 7.5 ft fall hazard. ConAgra Foods Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard (name previously cited standard), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 312728660, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on September 11, 2009 with respect to a workplace located at 195 Alexander Way, Carol Stream, IL 60188.
