29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a. Machine Shop: A Yamazaki Lathe used by employees for part repair and fabrication was equipped with a chuck guard that was broken and did not cover the lathe's chuck. Employees were exposed to rotating part hazards. b. Machine Shop: A Cleereman milling machine was used by employees for part repair and fabrication was not equipped with a chuck guard. Employees were exposed to rotating part hazards. c. Shore Support Shop: A Tongil Lathe was used by employees for part repair and fabrication was not equipped with a chuck guard. Employees were exposed to rotating part hazards. The Cabras Marine Corporation was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1538905, citation number 1, item number 2and was affirmed as a final order on 10/28/2021, with respect to a workplace located at 178 Industrial Ave.
