Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: EXPLOSION

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious plysical harm to employees in that: a) Employees were exposed to the hazards of a possible fire or explosion on or about October 4, 1988 where being cleaned inside the building and that the tank truck was not grounded and/or bonded to eliminate any potential static charge buildup. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to: 1) Assure that tank truck is grounded immediately after placement for cleaning. 2) Bond the nozzle of the pressure washer to the tank truck prior to cleaning.
