Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.147(c)(7)(i): The employer shall provide training to ensure that the purpose and function of the energy control program are understood by employees and that the knowledge and skills required for the safe application, usage, and removal of the energy controls are acquired by employees. The training shall include the following: (A) Each authorized employee shall receive training in the recognition of applicable hazardous energy sources, the type and magnitude of the energy available in the workplace, and the methods and means necessary for energy isolation and control. a) On or about November 8, 2024, the employer did not provide authorized employee lockout tagout training prior to employees performing maintenance and servicing such as replacing belts and troubleshooting the chain and sprocket on the 5A2 elevator lift conveyor at the NP2 Sub Assy Steel Ball Force Fit Machine. b) On or about January 10, 2024, the employer did not provide authorized employee lockout tagout training prior to employees performing maintenance and servicing such as cleaning the mist eater and cleaning the sensor inside the machining area on the Horkos Machining Center on the Subaru Line 3 OP-10 #1. The Yamada North America, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1910.147(c)(4)(i) which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1714561, citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on May 29, 2024, with respect to a workplace located at 9000 Columbus Cincinnati Road, South Charleston, OH 45368.
