Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and HEalth Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to potential fractures, electric shock and concussions in that drill rotating rods were hoisted above the top of the mast in excess of 10 feet while using a slip ring device: a) WV Rt. #49 Matewan, WV - Among others, one feasible and acceptable abatement method is to use a hoist plug device, on or about September 27, 1989.
