Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that the employer failed to provide complete operational doors or gates with interlocking devices on the freight elevator to prevent the elevator from being operated while any door or gate is open: a) Warehouse - Freight elevator serving five (5) floors plus the basement; 10-18-89 AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO HAVE HOISTWAY DOOR EQUIPPED WITH HOISTWAY-UNIT SYSTEM HOISTWAY-DOOR INTERLOCKS.
