Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation shall be protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with paragraph (b) or (c) of this section except when: a. Located at the job site at 2062 Broccoli Dr., Hilliard, Ohio 43026: On or about May 20, 2024, the employer did not ensure that each employee working in the excavation of greater than 5 feet in depth to install the water pipeline was protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system. As a result, employees were exposed to crushing hazards associated with a potential cave-in. Nickolas M. Savko & Sons, Inc. was previously cited for a Serious violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard 1926.652(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1469193, citation number 2, item number 2, and was affirmed as a final order on April 26, 2021, with respect to a workplace located at 6652 South Section Line Road, Delaware, Ohio 43015.
