29 CFR 1915.53(c): A 1-? inch or larger fire hose with fog nozzle, uncoiled, placed under pressure and protected from freezing conditions was not in the immediate vicinity and ready for use where highly flammable hardening preservatives were being removed. On or about March 15, 2024, onboard the Cuyahoga vessel moored at the Port of Ashtabula, Kinder Morgan Pinney Dock; Minnesota slip, A/B dock side, the employer failed to provide a 1-1/2 inch or larger fire hose with fog nozzle while employees were removing Amerthane 490 with a welder off of the bulkhead in cargo hold #2, exposing employees to fire hazards and asphyxiation.
