29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: Location: Fresh and Value Added Rooms Instance A: The portioner pusher plate guard was not in place thereby creating an amputation hazard. Instance B: The portioner pusher plate guards safety interlock was inoperable allowing the machine to operate without the guard in place. Instance C: The portioner photo sensor was missing. This allowed access to moving parts from the magazine side of the machine. Instance D: The portioner double redundant safety switch was missing. Instance D: The Curio de-heading machine's saw blade was not adequately guarded. Instance E: Breading machine 'breading distribution rollers' near the hoppers are not adequately guarded. The Channel Fish Processing Co., Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1466770, citation number 1, item number 2, and was affirmed as a final order on March 30, 2020, with respect to a workplace located at 200 Commerce Drive in Braintree, MA.
