29 CFR 1910.29(b)(1): The employer did not ensure that guardrail systems met the requirement that the top edge height of top rails, or equivalent guardrail system members, be 42 inches, plus or minus 3 inches, above the walking-working surface: a) Roundhouse Building, Third Floor: Employees were exposed to an approximate 34-foot fall hazard while walking on the outdoor operator deck, and the top rail of the guardrail was less than 42 inches (plus or minus 3 inches) above the walking-working surface, on or about December 5, 2023. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED ABATEMENT NOTE: The top edge of the top rail must be installed at a height of 42 inches (plus or minus 3 inches), and the midrail must be installed at a height midway between the top edge of the guardrail system and the walking-working surface.
