29 CFR 1910.1200(f)(6)(ii): Except as provided in paragraphs (f)(7) and (f)(8) of 29 CFR 1910.1200, the employer shall ensure that each container of hazardous chemicals in the workplace is labeled, tagged or marked with product identifier and words, pictures, symbols, or combination thereof, which provide at least general information regarding the hazards of the chemicals, and which, in conjunction with the other information immediately available to employees under the hazard communication program, will provide employees with the specific information regarding the physical and health hazards of the hazardous chemical. At the workplace located at 5843 Tower Drive, Florence, Wisconsin; the employer did not ensure that each workplace (in-house) container of hazardous chemicals was labeled, tagged or marked with product identifier and words, pictures, symbols, or combination thereof, which provide at least general information regarding the hazards of the chemicals, exposing employees to the hazards associated with hazardous chemicals in the following instances: a) On or about and at times prior to July 11, 2023, in the Boiler Room, the employer did not ensure that one workplace (in-house) containers containing boiler treatment chemicals, such as but not limited to FORMULA 48, FORMULA 1100, FORMULA LC5, and FORMULA SS-CAT, was appropriately labeled, tagged or marked with the product identifier and words, pictures, symbols, or combination thereof. b) On or about and at times prior to July 5, 2023, at the top of the stairs leading to the basement of the Sawmill, the employer did not ensure that one container (55-gallon drum) containing Automotive Diesel Fuel was appropriately labeled, tagged or marked with the product identifier and words, pictures, symbols, or combination thereof. The container had no labeling. Diesel fuel is a combustible liquid that can cause skin irritation. Florence Hardwoods, LLC was previously cited for a serious violation of this occupational safety and health standard, 29 CFR 1910.1200(f)(6)(ii), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1431640, citation number 1, item number 2, and was affirmed as a final order on February 10, 2020, with respect to a workplace located at 5843 Tower Drive, Florence, WI 54121.
