Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.502(d)(16): Personal fall arrest systems, when stopping a fall, shall be rigged such that an employee can neither free fall more than 6 feet (1.8 m), nor contact any lower level: a- Building 1000, Mount Laurel NJ: A worker was not protected from falling when walking and working on the top of pitched roof trusses while wearing a full body harness with a lanyard attached to it and the other end connected back to itself, with the hook, as it was wrapped around the connector plate & chord within a wooden roof truss. As such, this worker was exposed to fall hazards in excess of 10 feet to the flooring below. Condition observed on or about 01/31/23. b - Building 1000, Mount Laurel NJ: A worker was was not protected from falling when walking and working within the inner chords of roof trusses while wearing a full body harness with a lanyard attached to it and the other end connected back to itself, with the hook, as it was wrapped around the connector plate & chord within a roof truss. As such, this worker was exposed to fall hazards in excess of 10 feet to the flooring below. Condition observed and noted on or about 01/31/23. NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
