29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1):When portable ladders are used for access to an upper landing surface, the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface to which the ladder is used to gain access: 40 Blacksmith Rd., Wilbraham, MA: On or about April 2, 2021, employees were observed using a portable aluminum extension ladder to access the upper roof that did not extend 3 feet past the upper landing surface LCT Construction & Services, Inc. does not protect employees from ladder fall hazards while roofing. This was most recently observed at a worksite at 40 Blacksmith Rd., Wilbraham, MA. To abate this violation, the employer must properly position ladders which are used to access upper landings . The employer was cited for a repeat violation of this standard, 1926.1053 (b) 1 in OSHA inspection number 1223896 Item 2, Number 2, which was final order on 10/25/2017, with relation to a worksite at 171 Burrill St., Swampscott, MA.
