29 CFR 1910.157(c)(1): The employer des not ensure that portable fire extinguishers are mounted, located and identified so that they are readily accessible without subjecting the employees to injuries: BREAK AREA/STORE ROOM: On or about January 22, 2020, a portable fire extinguisher was stored on the floor in the Break Area of the Store Room. Access to the extinguisher was blocked by boxes of stored inventory items. Dollar Tree Stores, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.157(c)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1393119 issued on April 15, 2019, citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on October 28, 2019, with respect to a workplace located at 3565 Atlanta Highway, Athens, GA 30606. To abate this violation, the employer must ensure that all fire extinguishers are mounted on the wall, readily accessible to employees. In addition, the employer must post signs above the fire extinguishers so that their location can be seen from a distance.
